Riemer, Marvin J. (March 24, 1941 - August 7, 2011)

Marvin J. Riemer, 70, Stetsonville, died on Sunday, Aug. 7 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where he had been a patient the past five days.


A memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 12 at 3 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville, with Father Showreddy Gali and Father Sleeva Raju Madanu officiating. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Stetsonville. Urn bearers are his sons, Al, Paul and Mark Riemer.


Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from noon until the time of the service.


Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.


Marvin Riemer was born on March 24, 1941 in the Town of Little Black to Norman and Ruth (Ludwig) Riemer.

He attended Liberty Elementary School in the Town of Little Black and was a 1959 graduate of Dorchester High School.


On June 15, 1963 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, he married Pauline Ramminger, who survives. He owned and operated Riemer Builders in Stetsonville for 41 years until retirement in 2007.


He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, was a firefighter with the Stetsonville Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years, serving 17 years as assistant fire chief, and served on the Stetsonville Village Board for 36 years. He enjoyed playing softball, horseshoes, baseball, their Chequamegon hunting shack, and most of all spending time with his family, and was an avid bowler and was known as Marvelous Marv.


In addition to his wife, survivors include his mother, Ruth Riemer of Medford; four children, Al (Julie), Mark "Ed" and Ann (Rodney "Goody") Goodrich, all of Stetsonville, and Paul (Julie) of Rochester, Minn.; nine siblings, Joyce (Eugene) Erickson of Jackson, Karen (Otto "Jr.") Olson and Rhonda (Mike) Handel, both of Medford, Richard of Fond du Lac, Marjean (Steve) Zemaitis of Mesa, Ariz., Kris (David) Tickler of Park Falls, John (Julie) of Osceola, Phyllis (Bill) Schafer of Brodhead and Larry (Pam) of River Falls; and eight grandchildren, Brooke, Cassie, Maggie, Lucas, Sophia and Brady "Little Man" Riemer, and Katelyn and Colten Ruppel.


He was preceded in death by his father, Norman.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials go to Stetsonville Volunteer Fire Department or to the family for future designation.
