Davison, John Thomas "Tom" (July 6, 1940 - January 22, 2012)

John Thomas "Tom" Davison, 71, of Eau Claire, died on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012 at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona.

He was born on July 6, 1940 in Rice Lake to Joseph and Margaret (Chartraw) Davison. He graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1958. He joined the Wisconsin National Guard, serving from 1960 to 1964, and was called to active duty in the United States Army in 1961 during the Berlin Crisis, and was honorably discharged in 1962.

Tom married Kathleen Gunderman in Chetek in 1965. Through the years they lived in White Bear Lake, Minn., Medford and Eau Claire. He worked at various jobs over the years, owned a door-to-door milk delivery and was a locksmith. He retired from Hutchinson Technology of Eau Claire in 2003.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; son, Leonard (Kerry); granddaughter, Molly; sister, Sister Veronica; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Charles, Gerald and Roger; and sisters, Phyllis Hughes, Bernadette Mininger and Therese Lieffring.

The 50+ miles between where he was born and where he died do not convey the distances he traveled, the things he had seen and done, or the people he touched. Tom liked a good story, but a good joke even more.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a contribution could be made to the American Lung Association or a charity of choice.

An interment service will be held at a later date. Chippewa Valley Cremation Services is serving the family. To sign the guestbook or share memories online, please visit www.chippewavalleycremation.com
