Booth, Russell D. (20 May 1923 - 24 Oct. 2008)

Russell D. Booth, 85, of 1750 Second Ave. S., Wisconsin Rapids, died Fri., Oct. 24, 2008, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tues., Oct. 28, 2008, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. The Rev. Al Wierzba will officiate.

Burial will be at St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Plainfield.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Mon. at Higgins Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, with an Elks service at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m.; and from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tues. at the church.

Russell was born May 20, 1923, in Holcombe to Silas (Sr.) and Nina (Cary) Booth.

He married Wilma on Nov. 8, 1956, at the "Little Brown" Church in Iowa. Their marriage was later blessed at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Plainfield. They lived in Hancock for 28 years before moving to Wisconsin Rapids in 1991. Russell worked at the Nekoosa Foundry for 16 years. Loved traveling with his family, participating in Park Place Day Care Center, Senior Citizens, and the ReSource Center of Wisconsin Rapids.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma, of Wisconsin Rapids; two sons, Russell Booth Jr. of Arkdale and Sam Booth of Eau Claire; one daughter, Julanna (Richard) Mischka of Hancock; two stepsons, James (Marilyn) Walsh of Wisconsin Rapids and Robert Walsh of Wisconsin Rapids; one sister, Lucille Woods, Barron; and one sister-in-law, Elaine Booth of Marshfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Silas Jr. and Wayne; and one sister, LaVerne McDonald.
