Cuff, James R. (5 Feb. 1946 - 27 Dec. 2008)

James R. Cuff, 62, of Park Falls died unexpectedly Dec. 27, 2008, at Saint Joseph's Hospital with his family at his side.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sat. Jan. 3, 2009, at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 335 S. Fifth Ave., Park Falls. Military honors will be conducted following the service at the church. Interment of ashes will be held at a later date in Virginia, Minn.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time Sat. at the church.

The Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, Marshfield is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born Feb. 5, 1946, in Virginia, Minn., the son of Robert and Genevieve (Conaway) Cuff. Following his high school graduation, James served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, for which he received numerous medals and a purple heart for his heroism. On Sept. 14, 1968, in Park Falls, James was united in marriage to the former Patricia Barker.

During the years, he was employed by Long Year Drilling Company, Rhinelander, Armory Shell in Virginia, Minn., U.S. Postal Service, Park Falls, and retired in December from Saunders Wood Specialty's after 23 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Barker) Cuff of Park Falls; daughter Cari (Scot) Miesbauer of Butternut; son Jaymes (Karen) Cuff of Gilbert, Minn.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Three brothers, Mick Cuff, Ron (Marina) Cuff and Dave Cuff, all of Virginia, Minn., and one sister, Lori Rastabutko, of Balmertown, Ontario, Canada, further survive James.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Johnny Angel Foundation or a local food pantry.
