Harry T. Peterson Hatfield, Wisc.

Harry T. Peterson, 66, of the Hatfield area, Jackson County, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, Wisc., surrounded by his wife and children following a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Harry was born in the town of Irving, Jackson county, on Oct. 7, 1936, to Theodore J. and Clara (Johnson) Peterson. He was raised in Irving, and he graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1954. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for one year.

He married Beverly Horn on Sept. 5, 1959, in the town of Franklin, Jackson County. The couple lived in Disco, Hixton, Arcadia and Richland Center. Harry retired in 1994 and they moved to Hatfield.

Harry was employed for 35 years with the Jackson Electric Co-op of Black River Falls, the Trempealeau County Electric Co-op of Arcadia, and the Richland Electric Co-op in Richland Center, where he served as its general manager.

He served on numerous rural electric boards, and he was especially proud that he was recently elected to the Jackson Electric Board in March 2003.

He was a past member of the Black River Falls Jaycees and the Black River Falls School Board. He was a past member of the Arcadia Lions Club. He served on the church councils of Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church and St. John's Lutheran Church in Richland Center. He served on the Richland Center City Council.

Harry was a member and past president and vice president of the Sons-of-Norway Fossen Lodge 534, and he was cofounder and president of the Backroads Express Riders Moped Club.

Surviving are his wife, Beverly, one daughter, Debrah (Dennis) Householder fo Galesville, Wis.; five sons, Jeffrey M. of Blair, Wis., Troy J. of Luxemburg, Wis., Craig T and James E., both of Onalaska, Wis., and Jason H. (Amy) of West Salem, Wis.; four sisters, Mae (Clayton) Olson of Melrose, Wis., Pearl Huber and Lois Olson, both of Black River Falls, Belva (Donald) Osegard of Menomonie, Wis., six grandchildren, Jennifer, Travis, Amanda and Daron Householder, Hayden Peterson and Bailee Peterson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mahlon and Donald Peterson.

Funeral Services for Harry T. Peterson will be Friday, Aug.22, at 10:30 a.m. at Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Eric Bakken will officiate, and burial will be in the Hatfield Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at Torgerson's Funeral Home today from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.

Pallbearers will be Harry's five sons, Jeffrey, Troy, Craig, Jason and James; and his son-in-law, Dennis Householder.
