Eveland, Carol Elayne (8 May 1938 – 1 March 2009)

Carol E. Eveland, 70, of Black River Falls, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, in her home under the care of Black River Hospice and her family.

Carol Elayne Eveland was born May 8, 1938, in Tyler, MN, to Rueben E. and Helen V. W. (Bengston) Nelson. She was raised in Ruthton, MN and graduated from the Ruthton High School. She married Donald LeRoy Eveland in Redwood, IA, and had also lived in various locations in Minnesota, Texas and Wisconsin before settling in rural Black River Falls.

Carol had been employed by the U. S. Postal Service, Majestic Pines Casino for 12 years and Sears. She had also owned and operated Eveland Insurance Company of Black River Falls for five or six years.

Carol’s greatest joy in life was her family. Carol will be remembered as an excellent cook, who thought a home cooked meal would cure everything. She especially loved to bake, cook, quilt, sew and be outside puttering around in her garden and yard.

Carol always had a smile and greeting for everyone. She treated everyone with kindness and as if they were the most important person in her world. She firmly believed that kindness to others was very important and would sit down to visit with anyone.

Carol will be lovingly remembered for her courageous five-year battle with cancer. She fought not only one cancer but two different types. She felt very blessed to have hospice, which allowed her to stay home with her family. She passed away wrapped in her children’s arms at home.

Thank You Mom for all the words of wisdom and the wonderful memories you gave all of us.

God Bless, Lori, Sandra, Kim, Cindi, Shari, John and Mark Eveland.
