Zeman, Betty M. (Marriage - 5 July 1958)

Zeman - Peterson Wedding

Miss Betty M. Zeman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zeman of Melrose, Wisconsin, became the bride of Mr. Alan B. Peterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Peterson of Black River Falls, in a single ring ceremony performed at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Black River Falls.

White gladiolus decorated the altar for the candelight ceremony performed by the Rev. Raymond Huss. She was given in marriage by her father. Miss Kathryn Huss was the organist and Miss Jean Torkelson of Melrose was the soloist. Her selections were "The Wedding Prayer", "Son of Ruth" and "The Lord's Prayer".

For the ceremony the bride chose a gown of white acetate taffeta fashioned with a sabrina neckline of alencon lace. It had long sleeves and a fitted bodice panel with motifs of alencon lace appliques in front of the skirt falling gently into a sweep of a train. She carried red sweetheart roses on her white Bible. Her headdress was corresponding with the gown and fashioned in a fingertip length veil of French illusion.

Her bridesmaids were Miss Janice Plummer of Melrose, maid of honor; and Miss Dorothy Klukken of Osakis, Minnesota and Miss Carolyn Brehken of Scarville, the bridal attendants. Their gowns were of silk organza in pastel shades of green. They were ballerina length with sabrina necklines and fashioned with princess lines with bands of white embroidered in pastel shades of pink and rose and fashioned to form empire waistlines. Their flowers were pink sweetheart roses and daisies which they carried in white straw baskets.

The mother of the bride chose a sheath dress of mint green lace corsage and white accessories. The mother of the groom wore a blue rayon silk dress with a corsage of red sweetheart roses and white accessories. Arland Peterson, brother of the groom was the best man in the ceremony and Peter Peterson of Black River Falls and Russell Biggar of Appleton were the groomsmen. Robert Zeman, brother of the bride and Gene Mason, cousin of the groom were the ushers.

A reception in the church parlors followed the ceremony. The decorations at the reception featured pink sweetheart roses and daisies in milk glass bowls with matching candelholders. Mrs. Vernon Peterson had charge of the guest book and Mrs. LeRoy Gilbertson and Mrs. Steve Zeman served the wedding cake. For her going away costume the bride had a sheath dress of beige embroidered linen and brown and beige accessories.

Following a trip to Yellowstone Park, Mr. and Mrs. Peterson are at home at 1016 Van Buren Street, Black River Falls.

The bride is a graduate Luther College in 1957 and has taught the fifth grade at Lovell School, Circle Pines, Minnesota for the past year. She has contracted with the Black River Falls School District for the coming school year. The groom is the former manager of the O'Hearn Auto Company at Melrose and at present in an automobile wholesaler in Black River Falls.

Member of the Fifth Grade at the Circle Pines School, members of the faculty at the school, Mrs. LeRoy Gilbertson, Mrs. Vilas Young and Mrs. Glenn Button, Mrs. Price Peterson and Mrs. Geo. Mason were pre nuptial hostesses.
