Rounds, Michael Jeremy (3 October 1987 – 11 March 2010) With Flag

 

Specialist Michael Jeremy Rounds, 22, of Beloit died Thursday, March 11, 2020, as a result of a motorcycle accident.

 

He was born Oct. 3, 1987, in Beloit, the son of Peter E. and Pamela (Draves) Rounds.  Michael was a 2006 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School.  He married Britannie Fischer Dec. 23, 2008, in Janesville.

 

Michael was in the WI Army National Guard 1158th Transportation Co., Beloit.  He had just completed a one-year tour in Iraq performing a Detainee Operations Mission.  His regular duty was a Combat Het Vehicle mechanic.  He received many medals, which include Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War of Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon and Army Forces Reserve Medal.

 

Michael was very proud to have received the Sharpshooter qualification badge in basic training. 

 

Michael was employed by Brian Stewart and Associates as a security enforcement officer.  Michael enjoyed riding his motorcycle, often with many of his friends.   In his younger years, he belonged to the Beloit Youth Hockey Association, Boy Scout Troop #608 and raced go-karts at Sugar River Raceway.  He loved sports and played youth soccer, little league and scout softball.  Michael also played football, participated in track, and wrestled in high school.  Michael was an awesome son, husband and father who will be missed by all.

 

Survivors include his wife, Britannie Marie Rounds of Beloit; his daughter, McKenna Rose Lynn Rounds of Beloit; parents, Peter and Pamela Rounds of Beloit; sisters, Kitty Rounds and Julie Rounds, both of Beloit; maternal grandfather, Delbert Draves of Beloit; in-laws, Doug (Trina) Fischer of Beloit and Julie Lee of Wyocena; brothers-in-law, Nicholas Fischer and Brady Fischer, both of Beloit, and Steven Lee of Wyocena; aunts and uncles, Harry (Karen) Draves, Linda (John) Gordon, Donald (Penny) Draves, Ron (Dawn) Draves, all of Beloit, Daniel (Georgia) Rounds of Maryland, Paul (Beth) Rounds of West Virginia, Hazel (Glen) Zabel of Maryland, Juanita (Terry) Baxter of Rockford, IL, and Janice (Russ) Jacobs of Beloit, who were also Michael’s godparents; numerous cousins, extended family and close friends, including John Dibenardo.

 

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Hazel Draves; paternal grandparents, Melbourne and Margaret Rounds; aunt, Janet Draves; and uncle, Melbourne Rounds Jr.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010, in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, with Chaplain Douglas Hedman officiating.  Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL, with full military honors accorded by Military Detail Joint Force Headquarters.

 

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010, in the funeral home.

 

A memorial will be established for his daughter, McKenna.
