John Stasek (5 August 1878 - 15 December 1957)

DORCHESTER – The Rev. Gerald Schuh will officiate at funeral services here Wednesday morning at 10:30 o’clock at St. Louis Catholic Church for John F. Stasek, 79, whose body now lies in state at the Fuchsgruber Funeral Home. Committal will be made in Dorchester Memorial cemetery.

A retired town of Hoard farmer, Mr. Stasek died Sunday of old age complications at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he underwent surgery recently. He had been making his home in Dorchester for the past five years with a daughter, Mrs. Charles Lapp.

He was born Aug. 5, 1878, in Czechoslovakia, and came to this country in 1902 as a young man. After his marriage to Mary Baranek in Chicago in 1904 he brought his bride to a farm in Hoard Township, where they lived until the fall of 1942. They then moved to Owen, where she died six years later.

Survivors include three children, Emil Stasek of Rice Lake, Mrs. Charles (Mathilda) Lapp and Mrs. Ernest (Helen) Johnson, both of Dorchester; one sister, Mrs. Helen Baranek, Chicago; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two infant daughters and four brothers preceded him in death.
