Meyer, Mr./Mrs. Alfred (25th – 20 JUN 1935)

A 10:30 a.m. High Mass Saturday, June 15 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church was given for the Intentions of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Meyer.  The occasion marking their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary.  The Mass was celebrated by Father Norbert E. King, pastor of the church, with five of the Meyer sons serving the Mass, Richard, Frederick, Larry and Allen served as Acolytes with Daniel Meyer acting as Lector.

Alfred Meyer and the former Odelia Burr were married at a Nuptial Mass at St. Andrews Catholic Church at Rozellville on June 15, 1938.  Attendants at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Paterick of Janesville, Mrs. Dennis Jirchelle and Delbert Burr of Marshfield.  Father Henry Lachnit preformed the ceremony.  After their marriage, the couple lived in Auburndale and Marshfield and in 1945 moved to their present farm north of Loyal.

After the Anniversary Mass, a dinner for seventy-five relatives and friends was served in the church hall.  The anniversary cake, trimmed in silver, pink and white, was made and decorated by Mrs. Meyers’s sister, Sister M. Dorothea of St. Rose Convent, LaCrosse.  Mrs. Meyer wore a corsage of red roses and Mr. Meyer had a carnation boutonniere.  In the afternoon a reception of 175 was held at the Meyer home, after which a buffet supper was served.

All of the couple’s eight children were present for the silver wedding celebration. The only daughter, Sister M. Virdean, who is home on her first “home leave’ in five years, came from St. Rose Convent, LaCrosse; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Meyer and daughter Mary Lou and Carol of Marshfield; Frederick of Kenosha and Richard, Larry, Allen Daniel, Randall and Robert who reside at home.  Mrs. Clara Burr, Mrs. Meyer’s mother who is making her home with the Meyers, was also present at the anniversary, and Sister M. Dorothea of St. Rose Convent of LaCrosse.

Others present from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Anker Jorgensen, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Madsen, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Speaker from Kenosha, Mr. and Mrs. John Merten, Burlington; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rogstad, Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. Penerva and son Stevie, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Hytry and family, Sheboygan; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Drexler and family and Mr. and Mrs. Lorell Burr, and Mr. and Mrs. James Zuelke of Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Lobner, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Kieffer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kieffer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Kieffer and family, Frank Braunsky, Mr. and Mrs. James Braunsky and son Larry, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Weiler, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ashbeck, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kundinger, all of Auburndale; Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Markee, Mr. and Mrs. Lambert Schommer of Marshfield and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Fuehrer of Junction City; Ed Rogstad of Spooner; and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Paterick, two of the original attendants at the wedding were present from Janesville.
