The First United Church of Christ at Colby was the setting for the marriage of Miss Betty Ann Kasper and Allen G. Nienow Saturday, April 4, at 1:30 p.m.  The Rev. Carl Serr performed the ceremony.

Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kasper, Unity, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nienow, route 2, Stratford.

Attending the bridal couple were Mrs. Donna Klessig, of Mankato, Minn., matron of honor, Mrs. Joanne Kasper, Unity, and Miss Paulette Zimmerman, Unity, as bridesmaids, Jerome Kasper, Unity, as best man, and Kenneth Kasper, Unity, and Gerald Klessig, Mankato, Minn., as groomsmen.

The bride wore an elegant “Miss America” styled bridal gown of dainty banlon lace over bouquet taffeta which featured a sculptured sweetheart neckline, long sleeves, empire-line bodice and princess-style controlled bell skirt edged with scalloped border lace.  Border lace was appliquéd at the neckline, on the sleeves at the midriff, giving a jacket effect.  The detachable bouffant train bustled into a butterfly type back.  The border lace was highlighted with tiny seed pearls and iridescent sequins.  Dainty forward imported hand rolled edge lace and organza leaves forming a rose bridal headpiece held her mid-length bouffant veil of pure silk imported English illusion.  The bride wore a lavaliere set with one diamond and thirty-three seed pearls which was an engagement gift to her grand mother from her grandfather.  Her bouquet was a cascade arrangement of whit hyacinth blossoms centered around a white orchid.

The bridal aids wore petal blue street length dresses featuring white organza with blue embroidered sleeveless bodices with square necklines and unpressed pleated sata peau bell skirts topped with cap sleeved jackets with detachable panel back topped with bows at the back waist.  Matching forward floral bridesmaids hats with new double semi-bouffant veils and matching shoes.  They wore white gloves and carried cascade bouquets of snow crystals mums with white satin streamers.

The church was decorated with three alter bouquets of mixed flowers and white satin pew bows.

During the ceremony Miss Bunnee Kraut of Curtiss sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “The Wedding Prayer” accompanied by Mrs. Kay Hanson of Loyal at the organ.

A 2 p.m. reception and 4:30 p.m. buffet supper at the Colby Hotel followed the ceremony.  In the evening a dance was held at the Sportsmen’s Park, Colby.

The bride is a 1962 graduate of Colby high school and a 1963 graduate of Madison Business College.  The groom is a 1960 graduate of Stratford high school.  The young couple will make their home on route 2, Stratford where the groom is engaged in farming, and is also employed by Weyerhauser Corp. at Marshfield.  The bride is employed in the audit department of West Side Employer’s Mutual in Wausau.
