Heier, Glenn B. (18 MAY 1929 - 31 JAN 2013)

Glenn B. Heier, 83, Medford, died on Thursday, Jan. 31 at Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center in Medford, where he had resided the past month, surrounded by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating.

Interment of his cremated remains will take place at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery in the Town of Little Black. Honorary pallbearers are Dan Venne, Kelvin and Pat Ruesch, Tracy Heier and David Bach.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

Glenn Heier was born on May 18, 1929 in Medford to the late John and Catherine (Vogt) Heier. He attended Holy Rosary Catholic School in Medford.

On June 29, 1955 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, he married Elizabeth "Betty" M. Bach, who preceded him in death on December 31, 2010. He raised pigs and cows on his family's dairy farm in Medford, then dairy farmed in the Town of Little Black before purchasing the Baumgartner farm in the Town of Little Black. His son took over the farm in 1993 and he still helped out.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and past member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed driving around, eating breakfast at Rocky's, fishing, playing sheepshead and all of his grandchildren.

Survivors include six children, Mary (Leighton) Trice of Ogdensburg, Paul (Karen) of Waupaca, Deanne (Grant) Lawson of Milwaukee, Beth (Randy) Gleason of Sheboygan, Donna (Mundell) Maguire of Sierra Vista, AZ, and Steve (Jean) of Medford; a sister, Lenore Ruesch of Medford; eight grandchildren, Catherine Trice of Ogdensburg, D. Isaac, Calli and Aliza Lawson, all of Milwaukee, Megan Gleason of Sheboygan, Siobhan Maguire of Sierra Vista, and Lauren and Stephanie Heier, both of Medford; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael; five brothers, twins Alfred "Fritz" and Albert "Dick," Tony, Jack and Ray; and three sisters, Mary, Celine and Kate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his name to Holy Rosary Catholic School of Medford.
