Harder, Doris (1937? – SEP 1948)

Child Killed Near Here Sunday

Highway 13, 3 miles south of Spencer, was the scene of one of the over 400 fatalities recorded throughout the nation over the Labor Day weekend, when Doris Harder, 11, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Harder, Stetsonville route 1, was fatally injured when a car driven by her aunt, Miss Ruth Harder, 25, Dorchester route 1 went out of control when it swerved onto the shoulder while passing another car.

The dead girl suffered a skull fracture and cuts and bruises. She was taken to the hospital at Marshfield after the accident which occurred at 4:10 P. M. Sunday. Her aunt is still in the hospital suffering lacerations to her hands, a shoulder injury and an injury to her back.

The car, a 1941 Plymouth is an almost total wreck. It was brought to Spencer by the Jensen motors wrecker.
