Romaine G. Knudtson, 77, formerly of Eau Claire, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Lakeside South Nursing and Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls.

He was born April 21, 1922, to Martha (Erickson) and Carl Knudtson in Eau Claire, where he grew up. He was employed at the Eau Claire County Home, where he loved to garden.

Romaine married Florence Allen Wagar on Nov. 15, 1972, in Eau Claire. They resided in Eau Claire until moving to Chippewa Falls in 1997.

Romaine played in a band and loved to play the harmonica, to fish, and to paint.

Survivors include his wife, Florence; two stepdaughters, Mary Haas of Madison and Marilyn White of Stevens Point; one sister, Elaine Beaver of Eau Claire; his brother-in-law, Joe Beaver of Eau Claire; his sister-in-law, Phyllis Knudtson of Eau Claire; one step granddaughter, Alta Haas; his special friend, Arlyn Hayes of Chippewa Falls; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Eleanore Beaver; and his brother, LaVern Knudtson.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12 at the Mae Rowan Ecumenical Center of Lakeside Nursing and Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls, with the Rev. Gerald Mann officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery, town of Hallie.

Friends may call one-half hour prior to the service Tuesday at the Mae Rowan Ecumenical Center.

Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls, is in charge of arrangements.
