Holub, Edward C. Sr., (May 31, 1929 - July 10, 2011)

Edward C. Holub Sr., 82 of Boyd, following a long illness, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, Stanley.


Edward was born on May 31, 1929, the son of Milos and Agnes (Henryck) Holub. He was born in the Town of Colburn and attended Huron School, he then farmed with his family.

He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 as an engineer in Korea and Japan.

Edward was united in marriage to Joyce Smith on January 23, 1954 at the Church of God in Cornell.


He took over the family farm in the Town of Colburn where he made many improvements over the years and was a third generation on the Riverview farm.


He served 23 years as the secretary on the board of directors for Boyd Co-op that he took over from his father Milos, served many years on the Stanley-Boyd School Board and was a director-delegate for Morning Glory-AMPI Co-op and he was a true believer in the cooperative way of life, member of the Faith Evangelical Free Church, Senior Bible Study Group, American Legion Post No. 547 of Lublin, served on the Chippewa and Eau Claire FHA Loan Committee and member of W.F.L.A. Bohemian Lodge No.141.


Edward enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and the farm, and watching the crops grow.


Edward is survived by his children, Edward (Kathy) Holub Jr., of Medford, Richard (Janet) Holub of Boyd, Elaine (Donald) Hunt of Thorp, Daniel (Jackie) Holub of Boyd and Victoria (Jeff) Milas of Stanley; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer (Greg) Gustum, Emily, Brian (Tracee Schuh), Amanda (Jim) Larson, Samuel, Matthew and Alexandra Holub, Christy (Shawn D’Aloia), Kristopher, Donald J. (Ann) and Isaac Hunt, Jeffrey J. and Heather Milas; nine great-grandchildren, Kaylie and Julia Gustum, Jessalyn and Landon Holub, Ronald Faude, Bret Larson, Sylvia D’Aloia, Johnathan and Amy Hunt; a brother, Frank Holub of Alexandria, Va.; and a sister, Jean (Paul) Straka of Wauzeka.


He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce Holub; two grandsons, Carl and Lucas Holub; two great-grandchildren, Breeze Leona Holub and Tyler Anton Larson; and a brother,
Bohumil Holub.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2011 at the Faith Evangelical Free Church, 705 Madison Street, Stanley. Interment will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery, Town of Arthur, with military honors conducted by the Lublin American Legion Post No. 547.


Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott and also one hour before services Friday morning at the church.


In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Parkinsons Disease Association.
