BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF JOSEPH GAY

JOSEPH GAY, contractor and builder, Chippewa Falls, came to Wisconsin in 1866; located at Grand Rapids, and was employed as carpenter some two months; was at St. Paul, Minn., eight months; then in Southern States for about a year. Came to Chippewa Falls in 1868, and has been engaged in building, speculating and carpentering since. Born in Canada in 1843; farmed some with his father, and came to the United States in 1862, and was for some three years engaged in mining and building in Lake Superior, Mich. Married at Chippewa Falls, in December. 1870, to Ida Goodhue, who was born in Illinois. They have three children—Ida, Alice and Jennie.
