Granton FFA Honors (Businesses - 1980)
Nearly 250 gathered in the Granton High School gym on Tuesday evening, October
28, to honor the school’s Future Farmers of America Chapter, which recently
received a state gold award for their accomplishments during the last year. The
area FFA citizens were also honored by the chapter for their support of FFA
activities. Presented honorary membership in the chapter were Gary Slaats,
editor and co-publisher of The Clark County Press in Neillsville, Jerry Beilke,
manager of Beilke Feed Mill, Granton, and David Tyler, president of the Granton
FFA Alumni organization.
A service award was also presented to WCCN Radio of Neillsville for their
efforts in promoting Granton’s annual Fall Festival and livestock shows.
Arthur Kurtz, Wisconsin’s assistant secretary of agriculture was the principal
speaker. His presentation included the showing of slides on the “greatness of
America” and a number of songs on America.
The banquet was served by members of the Granton FHA, supervised by Mrs. R.W.
Fish.
