Schwantes, Alvin (16 Dec. 1903 - 12 June 1985)

Alvin Schwantes, 81, of 1809 S. Maple Ave. died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at his home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. The Rev. William Ruhbusch will officiate. Mrs. Arnold (Isabelle) Bruesewitz will be the organist for congregational singing. Pallbearers will be Allen and DuWayne Greeler, Wilbur Buse, and Arlyn, Roger and Jerry Schwantes. Burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Hansen Funeral Home, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church until time of services. There will be a prayer service at the funeral home at 9 p.m. Friday.

Mr. Schwantes was born Dec. 16, 1903, in the town of Brighton, Marathon County, to August and Helen Schwantes. He attended the Town of Brighton schools. He married Rose Schultz June 16, 1926 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. They farmed in the Town of Brighton until 1932 when they moved to the Town of Sherman, farming there from 1932-1954. They then moved to Marshfield, where he was employed at Rollohome Corp.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Marshfield Senior Citizens.

Survivors include his wife, Rose, two sons, Kenneth, Marshfield, and Verlyn, Iron Mountain, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Laura (Otto) Manthe, and Mrs. Myrtle (Karl) Greeler, both of Marshfield; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son in infancy and two brothers.

Memorials may be designated to Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer.
