He used his degree to gain employment at Mittens Retail Appliance store in Marshfield where he worked until ill health forced him to retire in December 2006.

In addition to being survived by his parents, Emil and Norma Luepke of Marshfield, and his former wife, Carole Luepke of Marshfield, Richard also is survived by his three brothers, Frank (Carol) Luepke of Sheldon, Iowa, David (Doreen) Luepke of Edgar, Phillip (Julie) Luepke of Stoddard; and his only sister, Cora (Tom) Wright of Concord, Calif.; also, an uncle, Robert (Doris) Andre of Neenah; and an aunt, Eleanore Luepke, of Spencer. Numerous cousins, relatives and friends survive Richard. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are encouraged to do so to the Marshfield Zoological Society.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff of the Marshfield Care Center and the staff of Saint Joseph's 8 North for the loving care and attention given to Richard.
