Plath, Erna (19 May 1898 - 25 Mar. 1979)

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church for Mrs. Herman E. (Erna) Plath, 80, Route 4, McMillan Road, Marshfield. She died at 11:20 p.m. Sunday in the emergency room of St. Joseph's Hospital. Death followed an apparent heart attack.

The Rev. Ronald A. Jansen will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Barwineck, DuWayne Gropp, Terry Plath, Michael Lucht, Lloyd Hoops and Sigert Krasselt. Duane Helgerson will be soloist accompanied by Mrs. Harold E. Castner. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hansen Chapel and at the church after 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Plath, the former Erna Dittman, was born May 19, 1898 at Spencer to Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Anna Oelrich) Dittman. She attended Spencer Grade and High School and Wausau Business College.

After completing business college she was married to Herman Plath Oct. 12, 1916 at Trinity Lutheran Church. She and her husband farmed in Spencer until 1940. In 1942 they moved to Marshfield where he was employed as a carpenter and by Stock-Gro Co. for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Plath observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1966. Mr. Plath died Oct. 26, 1973.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Louise Lee of Phillips; two sons, Norbert and Vernon Plath, both of Marshfield; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ervin (Esther) Hoops of Spencer. A brother and a sister are deceased.
