Schar, Harry H. (15 Jan. 1890 - 18 Nov. 1976)

STRATFORD - Services for Harry H. Schar, 86, Route 1, Stratford, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Ebenezer United Church of Christ. Mr. Schar died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Wood, where he had been a patient for nine days.

The Rev. Robert Goessling, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at the Sauter Funeral Home in Stratford and at the church after noon Monday.

Mr. Schar was born Jan. 15, 1890, in Storm Lake, Iowa. On Feb. 23, 1921, in the Town of McMillan, he married the former Alice Nahring, who survives.

He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Stratford Memorial Post No. 6352 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He farmed in the Town of McMillan, and later in the Town of Cleveland, retiring from farming at age 65. During World War II, he worked as a carpenter in Alaska.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John (Delores) Mitchell, South Milwaukee, and Mrs. Robert (Ellen) Raschke, St. Francis; three sons, Harvey, Orange, Tex., Wesley, Marshfield, and Milton, Racine; a foster son, David Golla, Milwaukee; two foster daughters, Mrs. Stanley Coates, Rothschild, and Mrs. Daniel Grieser, Wausau; three sisters, Mrs. James Sturtz, Granton, Mrs. Ernest Matthes, Route 2, Stratford, and Mrs. Nellie Hansen, Marshfield, and several grandchildren.

A brother preceded him in death.
