Nowak, Joseph (25 June 1953 - 24 Nov. 2004)

Joseph Nowak Jr., 51, Marathon, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, in the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

He was born June 25, 1953, in Wausau, son of Joseph Nowak Sr., Edgar, and the late Clara (Knetter) Nowak. On June 12, 1976, he married Debra Rothenberger at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, town of Cassel. She survives.

Joseph was the group supervisor for Marathon Cheese Corp., Marathon. Besides walking, Joe enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and the Packers, collecting NASCAR and football cards, and restoring old cars.

Besides his wife, Debra, and father, Joe Sr., survivors include one daughter, Mary (Ricky) Landwehr, Stratford; two sons, Joseph Nowak III and Josh Nowak, both at home; three brothers, Roger (Carol) Nowak, Edgar, James (Patty) Nowak, Stratford, and Bob (Norma) Nowak, Edgar.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, town of Cassel. The Rev. Barnabas Kyea will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, and again from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service today at the Edgar funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joe's name may be directed to the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
