Robert Knetter

Robert Knetter, 84, Edgar, died Monday, April 6, 2009, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar.

Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services all at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John School, Edgar.

Peterson-Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, assisted the family with arrangements.

Robert P. Knetter

Robert P. Knetter, 84, Edgar, died Monday, April 6, 2009, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born Jan. 11, 1925, in the town of Cassel, son of the late Anton and Lottie (Sadowicz) Knetter.

On Aug. 26, 1947, he married Bernice Hall at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She survives.

Prior to his retirement in 1987, Robert was a foreman at the former Edgar Packing, later known as Berliner and Marx. He served as an usher and was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a volunteer driver for the Commission on Aging, and enjoyed doing "taxi" work for his family and community.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice, Edgar; children, Robert Jr. (Shirley) Knetter, Batavia, Ill., Ronald (fiancé, Debbie Nowak) Knetter, Edgar, Joyce (Michael) Huebsch, Marathon, Chuck (fiancé, Julie Raatz) Knetter, Edgar, Jan (Roger) Lepak, Marathon, Kenneth (Mary) Knetter and Jack (friend, Julie Anderson) Knetter, both of Edgar; 28 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Hilda Paul, Edgar; sisters-in-law, Irene Knetter, Wausau, and Marge Knetter, Eau Claire; and many other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Edmund, Anthony and Clarence; and four sisters, Balbina Pelatzke, Theresa Guralski, Mary Szepaniak and Clara Kempf.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at St. John Catholic Church, 103 N. Fourth Ave., Edgar. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the church.

Peterson-Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John School, Edgar.
