Bernice R. Weber, age 85, of Dorchester, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the Colonial Center in Colby.

Bernice was born October 18, 1925, to Paul and Pauline (Bredow) Hoffman. 

She attended Silverleaf Grade School. Bernice was joined in marriage to Eldon Denzin on November 6, 1943, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Milan. Eldon died in 1966.

Bernice married Cletus Weber on June 10, 1968, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester.

They owned and operated a farm in the town of Mayville until 1988. She was a waitress for 20 years, also working at the Dorchester Co-op, a drapery and fabric store and then K-Mart.

Bernice was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and was a member of the Altar Guild, making banners for the church. She enjoyed making quilts, oil paintings, crafts and flowers.

Bernice is survived by her sons; Bruce (Geanna) Denzin, Athens, and Gary Weber, Dorchester; three grandchildren; on great granddaughter; a sister, Ellen Stoughton, Athens; and a brother, Alfred Hoffman, Stratford.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eldon Denzin; brothers Clifford Hoffman, Lawrence Hoffman, Paul Hoffman Jr. and Harvey Hoffman; and sisters Emila Newman and Annie Hoffman. 

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2011, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Dorchester. Pastor Jerome Freimuth will officiate. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
