Frank Hiebsch (5 Apr 1881 - 16 Feb 1972)

Funeral services for Frank V. Hiebsch , 90, were held Saturday from St. Louis Catholic here (Dorchester, Clark, WI). Rev. Gerald F. Schuh, pastor, officiated at the 10:00 a.m. rites.

Interment was made in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Maurina Funeral Home. Pallbearers were M.S. Sorenson, Dr. A.W. Schief, L.D. Sorenson, Herman Sebold, Norman Seipp and William Jantsch.

Mr. Hiebsch died Feb. 16 about 10:30 p.m. in Gateway Nursing Home at Hartford, where he had resided the past three years.

He lay in state at the Maurina Funeral Home after 4:00 p.m. Friday. A parish rosary was recited there at 7:00 p.m. Friday, and a combined National Catholic Society of Foresters and Knights of Columbus rosary at 9:00 p.m.

Frank CV. Hiebsch was born April 5. 1881, in Tyssa, Austria, and came with his parents to the United States when he was twelve years old, settling in the Little Black community. He and Ann McCoy were married in 1905, and lived in Westboro where he was employed. In 1911 the family returned here when he became manager of the Dorchester Cooperative. Mrs. Hiebsch died in 1911. On Jan. 9, 1919, he and Clara Schmitt were married in St. Louis church.

In 1922 Mr. Hiebsch resigned his position with the Cooperative and entered upon his career in banking as cashier of the Dorchester State Bank, later becoming president. He was actively employed until retirement in 1962 at the bank which he served as director from 1915 to 1962.

In 1966 Mr. and Mrs. Hiebsch moved to the Marshfield Convalescent Center for a two year stay. On Sept. 9, 1968, they moved to the Gateway Nursing Home to be near two daughters. Mrs. Hiebsch died Sept. 25, 1969.

Mr. Hiebsch was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, a fifty year member of its court of National Society of Catholic Foresters, and a fifty year member of the Medford Knights of Columbus. He was treasurer for St. Louis Church 40 years and importantly instrumental in organizing the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery Association of which he was secretary-treasurer from 1931 to 1963.

Surviving are two daughters : Mrs. Marlin (Ruth) Miller, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Lawrence (Bert) Hanson, Greenfield; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A sister and a brother preceded him in death.
