Gennett, Marjorie Alice (1949)

Weis-Gennett

Miss Marjorie Alice Gennett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Gennett, route 3, Marshfield, became the bride of Donald Francis Weis, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Weis, route 1, at 8:30 a. m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Christ The King Catholic Church, with the Rev. Bernard Henry performing the ceremony.

The bride’s satin entrained gown was fashioned with a nylon yoke in a full-shoulder effect, with the bodice and skirt being enhanced with lace. Her train was made of nylon and lace and the finger-tip two tiered veil fell from a pearl headdress. Completing her wedding ensemble was a bouquet of red roses and a cluster of white pom-poms tied with white satin ribbon ending in long streamer.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Weis brother and sister of the groom and the bride served as best man and matron of honor, respectively. Mrs. Weis wore a white taffeta dress and on her head she wore a white heart-shaped headdress. Her bouquet consisted of white chrysanthemums and pink pompons.

The bridesmaids were Miss Bette Gennett, Marshfield, and Mrs. George Bauer, Stratford, sisters of the bride, and Miss Virjean Weis, sister of the groom. They were dressed in aqua, yellow and orchid taffeta dresses with matching gauntlets and heart-shaped headdresses. Their bouquets were white chrysanthemums and pink pompons.

Other attendants of the groom were Raphael Weis, Robert Endreas, Milwaukee, Geo. Bauer, Stratford.

The flower girl, Patty Weis, carried a bouquet of red roses and clusters of white pompons similar to the bride’s. The ring bearer, Roger Gennett, carried the rings on a heart shaped satin pillow.

The bride’s mother wore a dark brown dress trimmed with gold and yellow rhinestones, while the groom’s mother wore a dark green dress with pale green rhinestones. They both had corsages of yellow and white pompons.

Breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s grandparents, while the dinner for 150 guests and supper for 250 was served at the home of the parents of the bride. In the evening a dance was held at Riverview Ballroom, Stratford, with music furnished by Vic’s Little band.

The bride and groom both attended Spencer High School and the groom graduated in 19445.

The groom is engaged in farming and the couple will reside on a farm in the Town of Brighton. They will be at home to friends after Nov. 1.

Friends and relatives came from Madison, Delevan, Milwaukee, Canton, Ill., Pittsville, Unity, Stratford, Rozellville, Wausau, Loyal and Abbotsford.

The Record joins their many local friends in extending congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy wedded life.
