Zaborowski, Michael (28 OCT 1878 – 16 SEP 1964)

Funeral Services were held Saturday, September 19th for Michael Zaborowski, 85, who passed away September 16th at his home, 4:20 p.m. of Coronary Thrombosis. Father Edward Masalewicz officiated at the ten a.m. service, and burial was in St. Hedwig’s cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Fred Restarski, Bill Zaborowski, Gerald Bujalski, Clifford Ebber, Robert Herman and Francis Milligan.

Mr. Zaborowski was born Oct. 28, 1878 in Austria. He came to America in February of 1880, locating at Manistque, Mich. At the age of nine, he came to Thorp. In January 1899, he was united in marriage to Stella Herman Wechacz in Thorp.

Michael Zaborowski, oldest business pioneer, started working as a blacksmith at the age of 22 in the city of Thorp. A short time after, he went into partnership with N.P. Hansen, which was known at the Hansen and Zaborowski Implement Co. In 1930, the partnership was dissolved. He went into the hardware business with his brother in Gilman, Wis. After several years, he returned to Thorp and resumed a business known as The Thorp Machine Shop, until his retirement in 1954.

Surviving are his wife, Stella, one son, Raymond of Thorp; three daughters, Mrs. Theresa Bujalski, River Grove, Ill.; Louise Oscars, Chula Vista, Calif.; (Elizabeth) Mrs. Alvin Restarski, Norwood Park, Ill.; one brother, Charles Zaborowski, Dorchester, who is the remaining survivor of nine brothers and one sister. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, William, and one daughter, Helen.

Out of town people were from Fullerton, Neb., Mt. Prospect, Ill., Arlington Heights, Ill., Villa Park, Ill., Eau Claire, Wis., Rhinelander, Ladysmith, Gilman, Withee and Stanley, Wis.
