Andrews, Dewey (15 APR 1898 – 20 SEP 1964)

Dewey S. Andrews passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 20, 1964 at the Memorial Hospital in Park Falls, Wisconsin. He had been ill with a heart condition for several months.

He was born April 15, 1898 at Thorp, Wisconsin where he spent his childhood days and attended for public school.

Later he traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada, living at Corona, California and Wenatchee, Washington for some time.

On March 20, 1941 he was married to Josephine Genis at Liberty, Iowa.

Most of his life he worked at building and construction occupations. He also worked for the Madison Stave Silo Company erecting silos.

He entered military service in 1942 during World War II.

In 1956 he and his family moved to Park Falls where he acted as caretaker at Camp Trear, for the Boy Scouts of Illinois.

Dewey was a friendly man and made many friends wherever he lived.

He is survived by his wife Josephine; one son; Dewey Jr. of Park Falls; two daughters; Dorothy of Park Falls and Roberta of Pulaski, Wisconsin; three brothers, Leonard of Lublin, Edgar of Gilman and Robert of Wheeler, Wisconsin; three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Schmidt of Prairie City, Iowa; Mrs. Gertrude Gulcynski of Thorp and Mrs. Blanche Lake of Seattle, Washington, and two grandchildren, Robert and Joyce Andrews of Park Falls, Wisconsin.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 24 at 2 PM at the Thorp Funeral Home, Thorp, Wisconsin with Rev. R.J. McMiller officiating. Military services were held by the American Legion at Riverside Cemetery, where he was laid to rest.

Pallbearers were: Tom Polnazek, Hugo Roesler, John Barth, Harry Smith, Frank Serociak and Wilfred Vanderhyden.
