MINNESOTA GIRL AUG. 15

On Saturday, August 15, at 7:30 in the evening, Miss La Mae Burdorf and Mr. Curtiss Rohland were joined together in holy matrimony by Rev. Leroy Urman. The double ring ceremony took place at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Burdof of Green Isle, Minn., and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Rohland of Withee.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a two-piece, street length dress of acetate taffeta covered with lace and a shoulder length veil with a rhinestone tiara, a gift from the bridegroom. She also wore lace gloves and a shoulder corsage of gold pomps.

A sister of the bride, Miss Marlys Burdorf of Providence, Rhode Island, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids Burdorf of Minneapolis, Minn., and two other sisters, Miss Le Ann and Miss Judy Burdorf of Green Isle, Minn. They wore golden yellow crystalette dresses. Matching colored headpieces with a bow and a circular veil complimented their dresses. Each wore a white pomp corsage.

The best man was Darryl Anderson of Milwaukee, and groomsmen were Kenneth Oesterle of Melrose Park, Ill., and Leslie Weerts of Milwaukee, friends of the couple.

The men in the wedding party and the bridegroom were attired in midnight blue tuxedos and wore white carnation boutonnieres.
Miss Carolyn Fijalkiewicz presided at the organ and accompanied the soloist and the congregational singing. Miss Meta Balvanz of Eldora, Iowa, sang Our Wedding Prayer and Wedding Benediction. The Congregation sang Lord Who at Cana’s Wedding Feast.

The mother of the bride wore a beige dress and a gold and bronze pomp corsage. The mother of the bridegroom wore a rose colored dress and a gold and bronze pomp corsage. Mrs. Ed. Petke, the only grandmother, wore a blue dress and a white and yellow pomp corsage.

A reception of around 140 guests was held in the church parlors after the ceremony. Miss Mary Fijalkiewicz was in charge of the guest book. Miss Judy Rohland served the lunch. Mrs. Ronald Etterly cut the wedding cake. Mrs. Ted Klabon, Mrs. Art Klabon, Kay Klabon, Lois Rohland, Peggy Petke, Christine Rohland, and Marilyn Rohland served as waitresses. Opening and displaying gifts were Mrs. Clayton Bowe and Mr. Ted Petke.

The bride is a 1963 graduate of the Lutheran Lay Training Institute, Milwaukee. After graduation she served as a Lay Assistant at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Eldora, Iowa. The bridegroom is a 1964 graduate of Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Indiana. In September he will enter the Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, where he will continue his study for the ministry.
