Gardner, Adelbert (4 April 1896 - 8 July 1971)

Funeral services for Adelbert Gardner, 75, of Eau Claire, who died July 8 at Luther Hospital there, were held Sunday, July 11, at 11 a.m. from the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton. Henry Elmhorst of Neillsville officiated and burial was made in the Yolo Cemetery.

Adelbert Gardner was born April 4, 1896, in Granton. He worked in Racine for many years and later lived on a farm in the Town of Fremont. His marriage to the former Jessie Little took place May 26, 1919. Mrs. Gardner preceded her husband in death on April 30, 1954. Mr. Gardner, who was a veteran of World War I, had lived in Eau Claire since 1954.

Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. William Prescott of Arlington, Ca., Mrs. Marjorie Swyers of Eau Claire and Mrs. James Smith of Pekin, Il.; two sons, Bryce Gardner of Stoughton and Jack Gardner of Stevens Point; five sisters, Mrs. Anna Paulson of Chicago, Il., Mrs. Ruth Todd of Neillsville, Mrs. John Franke of Marshfield, and Mrs. Harold Scharf and Mrs. Douglas Crandall of Granton; three brothers: Charles, Mike and Russell Gardner, all of Granton; and 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Merlin Gardner, William Todd, Jeff Crandall, Kenneth Franke, Arvin Paulson and Chester Franke. Songs “Jesus Lover of My Soul” and “This One Thing I Know,” were sung by Mr. and Mrs. Michael Elmhorst and William Elmhorst. Organist was Mrs. Ronald McBride.
