 Shields, Chester Albert (10 SEP 1885 – 03 OCT 1959)

Chester Albert Shields, youngest son of Hiram and Caroline Odgers Shields, passed away very suddenly at his home in Greenwood Saturday morning, October 3, 1959 from a severe heart attack.

He was born September 10, 1885 in Eaton Township on the farm now owned by Mr. Gluezinski and lived there until the family moved to Greenwood in 1920.

He worked as cement work for several years.  He then took up mechanic work in the garages.  He later owned and operated a service station for several years before selling it and building and operating a repair shop until his death.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, a sister Etta and his brother Richard.  He is survived by his sister Isadore and four nieces.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 6, 1959 at the Hill Funeral Home, Rev. Mrs. Ethel Nulton officiated.  Miss Joanne Peterson and Miss Mary Sythe accompanied by Mrs. Wm. Olson sang The Old rugged Cross and Sweet Home.

The pall bearers were Robert Vesel, George Scherer, Wm. Steiger, Arthur Buker, Leland Chubb and Louis Kebl.  Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
