Capes, Mark A. (22 NOV 1949 - 11 JAN 2014)

Mark Allen Capes, age 64, passed away on January 11th after battling cancer and emphysema. Service will be Saturday January 18th at Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Visitation will be 10:00 AM until service at 11:00 AM.

Mark was born on November 22nd, 1949 to Robert and Florence (Kessenich) Capes of rural Owen, WI. Mark grew up on the family farm until moving to Marshfield in 1963. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1967 and later attended Technical School in Wausau and Mount Senario College in Ladysmith. Mark married Darlene Luchterhand of Neillsville on April 27th, 2002. Over his lifetime, Mark worked at various occupations including newspaper photography and semi-truck driving. He retired from working at Marshfield Weyerhaeuser in August of 2002.

Mark enjoyed photography and his talent has left a photo legacy for his family. He was an avid lifelong Packer fan and a proud Packer stockholder. Over his lifetime, Mark enjoyed travelling through the United States. He had a unique sense of humor and will be deeply missed by his family.

Mark is survived by his wife Darlene Capes (Luchterhand/O'Neill), two stepsons, Matthew (Jennifer) Luchterhand and Douglas (Heather), Luchterhand and three grandsons, Damien, Walker, and Max. His surviving siblings include Robert (Rita) Capes of Oakdale, MN, and Monica Capes of Wausau, Rita (John) Foltz of Madison, Gregory (Cathy) Capes of Phoenix, Barbara (Edward) Jannusch of Stratford and many other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother, his brother-in-law Pat O'Neill and father-in-law Lyman O'Neill.
