Sonderegger, William (28 MAY 1888 - 28 AUG 1953)

William Sonderegger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Sonderegger, was born in Berneck, Switzerland on May 28, 1888 and came to the United States in 1907. He settled in Buffalo County where he worked as a maker of Swiss cheese.

On April 6, 1910 he was united in marriage to Miss Julia Rude. They came to the Town of Beaver (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1920 and farmed for 17 years. They later moved to a farm six miles northwest of Greenwood, where he lived until his death.

On Dec. 13, 1951 he was accidentally run over by a truck at Loyal while he was employed there, and had been in ill health ever since. He passed away suddenly from a heart attack at his home on Friday, Aug. 28, 1953 at 6:30 a.m..

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church, Greenwood, on Monday, Aug. 31st. The Rev. Jack Grether, Neillsville, conducted the service. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery.

During the service Mrs. Daniel Olson, Misses Joyce Meyer and Virginia Wehrman and Mr. Bob Unger sang "Rock of Ages" and "Nearer My God to Thee," accompanied on the organ by Miss Jeanette Busch.

Mr. Sonderegger is survived by his wife, four sons, Clarence James and Arthur, Greenwood; Robert, Kaukauna; and a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Inez) Langfeldt, Wausau; a sister, Mrs. Edwin Hohl, Greenwood; a brother, Fritz, in Switzerland and ten grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret, and a brother, Jake.

The pallbearers were Ted Abel, Eugene Nolan, Hal Voight, Alex Mrotec, Henry Langfeldt and William Bartelt.
