Reshel, Karen H. (3 December 1940 - 24 August 2013)

Karen H. Reshel, 72, of City Point, passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital Marshfield. She was born Dec. 3, 1940, in Milwaukee to Harry J. and Ruth M. (Schreck) Mahnke. Karen was raised in Milwaukee until, at the age of 11, they moved to Pittsville. She was a 1959 graduate of Mary Heart High School, Pittsville. Karen was united in marriage to Gerald Reshel Oct. 14, 1967, at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Pittsville.

She loved children and enjoyed being a bus driver for the Pittsville School District for over 30 years. She was a founding member of the City Point Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders. Karen had many hobbies. She loved anything outdoors and would often hunt, fish, camp and hike with her family. When indoors, she would knit, crochet and embroider beautiful things that she would gift to others. Her biggest passion was always the Green Bay Packers. She was a lifelong fan and even attended a few games.

Karen is survived by her husband of 45 years, Gerald; son, Dennis (Elizabeth) Reshel of La Crosse; two daughters, Lori (Jerry) Brown of City Point and Jennifer (Chuck) Amundson of Black River Falls; two cherished grandchildren, Nathaniel and Samantha Reshel; sister, Harriet (Chuck) Rogers of Milwaukee; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ruth; and nephew, Darrel.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at noon at Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls. Reverend Kathleen Jury will be officiating. Burial will follow in City Point Cemetery, City Point. Family and friends are invited for visitation Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the family.
