Koepp, Dr. Arthur William (10 August 1895 - 18 November 1971)

Funeral services for Dr. Arthur William Koepp, 78, of Neillsville, a retired dentist who died November 18, at Ft. Snelling Veterans’ Administration Hospital in St. Paul, were held November 22 at 1:30 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Lyndon Station Cemetery. Masonic rites were conducted at the funeral home Sunday evening.

Dr. Koepp, the son of Gustave and Dena (Hounschild) Koepp, was born August 10, 1895, near Mondovi in Buffalo County. He began his education in rural schools of the area before moving to Mondovi with his family in 1907. He graduated from Mondovi High School and from North Central College at Naperville, Il., and taught for two years in Buffalo County Schools.

At one time, he was supervisor of science teachers at River Falls State Teacher’s College. Dr. Koepp, who also attended the University of Lyons in France, graduated from Marquette Dental College in 1925. He began his dental career in Park Ridge, Il., and last practiced in Augusta.

A veteran of World Wars I and II and of the Korean conflict, Dr. Koepp served in World War I as a dental surgeon. He was also a member of the board of officers appointed to examine cadets for admission to West Point Military Academy.

His marriage to the former Hazel Mavaussa took place May 1, 1929. She died on April 5, 1948. He was married June 8, 1962, to the former Veda Howard Erdman. She died on December 28, 1967.

Dr. Koepp was a member of the United Methodist Church; Haugen-Richmond Post No. 73, American Legion; Neillsville Lodge No. 163, F&AM; Carmi Chapter No. 60, OES; Tripoli Shrine, Milwaukee; Eau Claire consistory; Scottish rite; and the Wisconsin Dental Association. He was also a past member of the Clark County Male Chorus.

Survivors include three children, Mrs. Robert (Catherine) Nagel of Valencia, Ca., Richard Koepp of Ouray, Co., and Miss Muril Koepp of Elgin, Il.; a brother, Arnold Koepp of Cornell; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Alfred Kleckner, Albert Holt, John A Snedic, Lawrence Pace, Donald H. Brinkman and Paul Bartell. Mrs. James Musil was the organist.

Brinkman of Eau Claire; Hazel Helwig, Mr and Mrs. John Snedic and Fern Neuenfeldt of Greenwood; Elva Niemi of Ogema; Paul Bartel of Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. Lorraine Puesck of Nekoosa and Mrs. Verland Berrett.
