Happy Hustler 4-H (Club News - December1971)

The Happy Hustler 4-H club’s “Parents’ Fun Night” held Tuesday, December 14 was a success with 45 people in attendance, including two special honored guests; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lulloff. Others present included 16 parents, 12 children and 15 regular club members.

The program began with the 4-H pledge led by president, Jean Jordahl and Christmas songs sung by members.
Special guest speaker Mrs. Calvin Swenson gave a speech entitled, “Very Carefully”, pertaining to 4-H work. She was presented with a gift.

A play, “A Surprise Christmas Present,” was presented by Mrs. Donald Ayers. Characters in the play were Leyla Gungor, Linda Ives, Jean Ayers, Marilyn Schoenherr, Kay Swenson and Mrs. Ayers.

The highlight of the program was the “Friend of 4-H Award” presented to Mr. Lulloff, local newscaster at
Radio station WCCN for his outstanding service to the 4-H club program.

Club members did their Blue Ribbon novelty act from the music festival at Greenwood.

General Leader, Mrs. Charles Diers was presented with a gift of money from the club members.

The door prize drawing was won by Mrs. Calvin Ives.

The program closed with a piano duet, “Chopsticks”, by Linda and Cheri Diers, and the entire group singing “Jingle Bells”.

A lunch was served by Carolyn Pischer, Leyla Gungor and Nancy Van Gorden. - Jackie Schoenherr, reporter
