Wehrman, Henrietta #3 (12 AUG 1867 - 30 DEC 1944)

One of the aged members of the Warner Township Community, Mrs. William Wehrman came to a sudden death; the result of a fatal automobile collision which occurred last Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at Wolters Corners.
Mrs. William Wehrman nee Henrietta Klemme was born August 12th in the year 1867 in Hohenhausen, Lippe Detmolt, Germany. She immigrated to the United States in the year 1893, at the age of 26 years and during the same year on November 16th she was united in marriage with William Wehrman, Rev. J. Schmaltz officiated.

Mrs. William Wehrman has been a member of the West Side Reformed Church for over half a century. She also held membership in the church’s Ladies Aid Society. Grandmother Wehrman was still worshipping with congregation on Sunday December 17th; the last pulpit message she heard was taken from the eleventh chapter of the Gospel according to St. Matthew, verses 1-10, which text will also be the theme of the message we shall dedicate to her memory.

Mrs. William Wehrman was the mother of 12 children, two of whom, a son and a daughter have preceded their mother in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Wehrman, who departed this life on August 8th of the year 1930.

There remain to mourn the departure of Mrs. William Wehrman her children, viz. Mrs. Pauline Bellamy of Tipton, Michigan; William Wehrman of Greenwood; Gust Wehrman of Park Falls, Wis.; Oscar Wehrman of Greenwood; with who the mother resided in the family home during the years of her widowhood, Simon Wehrman of Greenwood; Theodore Wehrman of Sheboygan, Wis.; Walter Wehrman of Belgrade, Montana; Mrs. Theodore (Emma) Hium of Greenwood; Mrs. Ed (Minnie) Karnitz of Baron, Wis.’ Mrs. Alphonse (Elsie) Ampe of Cadott, Wis.; 26 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Burial services were held Wednesday afternoon at the parental home and at the West Side Reformed Church, Rev. J.C. Klingeberger officiating. Interment took place on the West Side Cemetery.

As loved ones leave us in death, may our parting words ever be these words of faith and hope - “God be with you and with all of us, until we meet again.”

Mrs. Wehrman, with her son and daughter -in-law Mr. and Mrs. Simon Wehrman were reroute to Barron and Cadott on Saturday, December 30, 1944 to spend Sunday and New Years Day with her two daughters. On reaching Wolters Corners, driving north, and seeing no car coming they started across County Highway N and when almost across the car was hit by Lyle Stafford who was driving his father Elmer to his work at the Mattes Livestock Market.
The two cars hit in front and the icy roads swung them so the back of the cars also hit and Mrs. Wehrman, who was alone in the back seat was thrown against some part of the car and it is believed suffered a concussion. She lived only a short time after the crash.
