Braun, Esther M. (19 NOV 1922 - 27 MAR 2014)

Esther M. Braun, 91, Greenwood, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital, in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 5, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Greenwood. Rev. Brian Campbell will officiate. Burial will take place in the Greenwood City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from 10 a.m., until time of service.

Esther Mildred Bauer was born on Nov. 19, 1922, in Riplinger, the daughter of Nicholaus and Selma (nee Johnson) Bauer. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Riplinger area, graduating from Riplinger High School. Esther worked at the Riplinger store and baby-sat for the owners. She married Harry P. Braun on Nov. 7, 1942, in Unity. Esther worked with her husband in their logging business and later worked at Weston Woodworks in rural Neillsville. Her husband, Harry, died on June 19, 1995. She remained in her home in the town of Eaton until the time of her death. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where she quilted with the ladies on Mondays, and was active in the Ladies Aide. Esther had many interests, but especially loved being with her family and grandchildren, fishing and traveling.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Susan) Braun, Granton, Suzanne (Dennis) Fravert, Loyal, Janice (James) Markee, Fond du Lac, and David (Jane) Braun, Greenwood; 16 grandchildren, Todd (Terry) Braun, Madison, Tammy (Jeff) Redetzke, Marshfield, Daniel (Tina) Braun, Melrose, Shanna (Shawn) Kolberg, Appleton, Annette (David) Mavis, Greenwood, Timothy Fravert, Thorp, Donald Fravert, Withee, Kristin Markee, Hartland, Karin (John) Veard, Oshkosh, Kathleen (Robert III) Griese, Oshkosh, Melissa Behrens, Eau Claire, Rebecca (Raymond III) Rothmeier, Granton, Joshua Braun, Greenwood, Richard (Heather) Bravener, Loyal, Jody (Travis) Steiger, Portage, and Jacqueline Bravener, Appleton; 35 great-grandchildren, Logan and McKenzie Braun, Nathan and JoHanna Beyer, Aubrey, Alyssa, Payton and Jerrin Braun, Devinne Syth, Carsen and Caleb Kolberg, CJ and Nicholas Mavis, Ashley Charneski, Tyler, Tressa and Christopher Fravert, David Payne, Sabrina and Rebecca Fravert, Kayden Martens, Allison and Lauren Neuendorf, Katie and Claire Veard, Malarie and Robert Griese IV, Jacey and Jayla Behrens, Paige Rothmeier, Brady and Bailey Bravener, Emily Hayes, Phillip and Aaron Steiger, Casey Bravener, Cheyenne Susa, and Ashli Rowe; four great-great-grandchildren, Grayson Mavis, Preston and Keegan Charneski, and Blayze Braun; one sister-in-law, Minerva Bauer, Colby; one brother-in-law, Orlando Kind, Greenwood; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; one brother, Maynard Bauer; and three sisters, Helen O'Brien, Mae Copet and Alvina Kind.
