Clara H. Grzegozewski died Monday, March 24, 2014, at Ministry St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield, WI. She was born on September 23, 1920, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Stanley and Rose (Rogus) Pszeniczny. She was raised by her parents in rural Withee, WI and attended the Colby School while helping out on the family farm, until as a young woman she left to work in Chicago.

She married Edmund Grzegozewski on September 25, 1943. The couple farmed in Clark County, while raising three children, before moving to Chippewa Falls in 1954. There they bought and ran the Cherry Inn, which eventually came to be known as Ed’s Bar. Clara continued caring for their family while working in the tavern until the couple retired in 1982.

After her husband died, Clara moved back to rural Clark County and helped care for her parents, ultimately moving into Morgan Plaza in Thorp, after her parents had both passed on.

Clara loved music and dancing, especially Polish music and dancing the Polka. She will be fondly remembered as a selfless and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by her children: Claire Glotfelty, Rose Mary Keefer and Edmund Grzegozewski, Jr.; as well as her grandchildren: Brian Zogoplos, Ginger Retzer, Matthew Grzegozewski, Nicholas Grzegozewski and Kelly Ann Holbrook; and her great-grandchildren: Christopher Retzer, David Retzer, Kaitlin Retzer, Tegan Retzer, Nicholas Zogoplos, Kate Grzegozewski and Lucas Grzegozewski.

Visitation was on Friday March 28, 2014 at 9:00 a.m.at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp with a funeral mass following at 10:30 a.m. Interment followed at Chippewa Catholic Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.
