Sischo, Alice (28 DEC 1926 - 17 APR 2014)

Alice Sischo, 87, Neillsville, died on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m., on Saturday, April, 26, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., on Saturday. Interment will be in the North Pine Valley Cemetery at a later date.

Alice Strangfeld was born on Dec. 28, 1926, in the town of Pine Valley, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (nee Glassow) Strangfeld. She attended and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1944 and married DeVere “Pete” Sischo on Nov. 4, 1945. They farmed north of Neillsville from 1949 until 1982, when Pete died. In 1984, Alice began working for the Department of Aging, where she assisted with the Meals-on-Wheels program for the elderly at home and at the Neillsville Senior Center. She was a member of the Pine Valley Zion Lutheran Church in Neillsville. She took pleasure in gardening and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress. Alice was a hard-working woman who taught her family the value of an education. She loved her grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

She is survived by five children, Terry (Elsie) Sischo, Neillsville, Dennis (Mary-Jo) Sischo, Neillsville, Vicki (Allen) Sischo-Steffen, Greenwood, Janis (Chris) Smith, Greenwood, and Judy (Brad) Lindner, Neillsville; 13 grandchildren, Heidi (Ben), Jamie (Tori), Joel (Megan), Aaron (Cheryl), Lacey (Steve), Chad (Heather), Luke (Lauren), Phillip (Kassie), Adam, Jessica (Jason), Jodi (Mike), Jared, and Jennifer; eight great-grandchildren, Brady, Drew, Aiden, Zoe, Mason, Peter, Addisyn and Connor; one sister, Elaine Quast, Sparta; and one brother, Herman (Jackie) Strangfeld, Neillsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a brother-in-law, Robert Quast.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Alice’s family who will be establishing a scholarship fund in her memory.
