Smith, Cathy Jean (Marriage - 4 July 1972)

Her attendants carried baskets filled with red carnations, white pompons and blue daisies as Miss Cathy Jean Smith became the bride of Timothy Mark Englebretson Tuesday, July 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. The Rev. William Ruhbusch officiated at the 1 p.m. double-ring ceremony which united the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Smith of Rt. 2 Spencer and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Englebretson of Loyal.

Presented in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white A-line gown of angel skin peau-styled with a Victorian neckline and Gibson girl sleeves and trimmed with Chantilly lace and pearls. A matching mantilla completed her ensemble. She carried a crescent-cascade bouquet of white majestic daisies and blue carnations.

Maid-of-honor Cynthia Voigt, Rt. 1 Loyal, and bridesmaids Sharon Hoops, Rt. 1 Spencer and June Schmidt, Rt.1 Loyal, appeared in A-line gowns of light blue dotted sheer fashioned with Victorian necklines and long, full sleeves. Petal headpieces held their long veils.

Bestman was Daniel Demel, Medford. Eric Englebretson, Loyal, and Kerry Smith, Rt. 2 Spencer, were groomsmen. Ushers were Norman Potvin, North St. Paul, Mn, and Patrick Engelbretson, Loyal. Brian Smith, Appleton, served as ringbearer. Deann Fisher, Spencer, was the miniature bride.

A 2 p.m. reception was held at the Village Plaza in Spencer.

The bride is a 1972 graduate of Loyal High School. Her husband, who attended North Central Technical Institute at Wausau, graduated from Loyal High School in 1971. He is employed in Spencer.

The newlyweds are on a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin and upper Michigan.
