Beil Family (First Reunion - 1985)

Ninety descendants of the late August and Henry Beil, of Calumet County, were reunited for the first time on October 19. This first annual Beil reunion was held in the dining area of Christ Lutheran Church, Chili, and those attending shared a noon potluck luncheon.

Paul and Adolph Beil lived in the Chili area for many years.

Wisconsin family members traveled from Chili, Spencer, Marshfield, Neillsville, Milwaukee, Chippewa Falls, Wausau, Fremont, Curtiss, Dorchester, Christie, Oshkosh, River Falls, and Westboro. Other relatives arrived from Avon and Prior Lake, Minnesota.

Mrs. Lyle (Hazel Beil) Doehr planned the 1985 gathering. Next year’s reunion committee includes Mrs. Melvin (Louise) Beil and Mrs. Harland (Viola Beil) Meissner.

Kalsow, Dale – Junior Kiwanian (November - 1985)

The Neillsville Kiwanis Club has selected Dale Kalsow as the Junior Kiwanian of the month. Along with this honor goes the invitation to attend all Kiwanis functions for the month of November.

A senior at Neillsville High School, Dale is the son of Robert and Carol Kalsow, Rt. 3 Neillsville.

Dale has been active in the following areas: Soil Judging, going to River Falls, Madison, and now to Kansas City for nationals in Ag. Mechanics through two years of FFA; an FBLA member one year; Candidate for Badger Boys State; member of Academic Decathlon team one year; Basketball two years; and a Sunday School teacher for the past four years.

Lyons, Jill (Orange Bowl - 1985)

The 250 members of the UW-La Crosse Marching Chiefs are on their way to the Orange Bowl. While in Florida from December 26-January 6, the Chiefs will perform at Sea World, The Epcot Center and Cypress Gardens. Jill Lyons, daughter of Russell Lyons, Neillsville, a freshman majoring in music, plays the clarinet for the Marching Chiefs.

Heimstead, Nita (Engagement - 1985)

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Aerts, Wrightstown, and Mrs. Mary Heimstead, Neillsville, announce the engagement of their children, Paul Aerts and Nita Heimstead. Miss Heimstead is also the daughter of the late Leland Heimstead. Plans are being made for a June 28, 1986, wedding.

The bride to be is a 1978 graduate of Neillsville High School. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from UW-Eau Claire. A Chapter One teacher, she is employed by the Spencer School District. Her fiance graduated from Wrightstown High School in 1978, and UW-La Crosse in 1983. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, he is a substitute teacher in Marshfield area schools.

Miss Yurkovich is a 1975 graduate of Greenwood High School and is employed as an optometric assistant for Dr. Rodney Hock, Evergreen Vision Clinic. Mr. Wolf is a 1978 graduate of Marshfield Senior High and is employed as a concrete pump operator for Lucht Brothers Concrete Pumping, Denver.

Bender, Mr. and Mrs. David (60th – 21 October 1985)

Seventy family members were on hand Sunday, October 20 to help David and Mabel Bender, Rt. 1 Neillsville, celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. The event was held at the Dudei cottage on Lake Arbutus.

Mabel Broihier and David Bender were married at Winona, MN, on October 21, 1925, and have resided in Clark County all of their adult lives. They farmed for six years in the Town of Washburn and 54 years in the Town of Grant. They still enjoy hunting, fishing, and riding on their AT vehicles.

Their four daughters, Mrs. Hilmer (June) Dudei, Plainfield; Mrs. Marvin (Mae) Hemp, Neillsville; Mrs. Ralph (Elaine) Dorow, Milladore; and Mrs. Gordon (Lorraine) Meddaugh, Rt. 2 Granton; their husbands, and David Bender, their only son and wife Beverly, of rural Arpin, were all able to attend. They have 23 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and one great grandson.
