Stencel, Dennis J. (2 APR 1959 - 10 JUN 2014)

Dennis J. Stencel, 55, Willard, died on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, June 20, at Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood. Rev. Steve Brice will officiate. Visitation will be held at Cuddie Funeral Home, on Friday, from noon until the time of services.

Dennis John Stencel was born in Milwaukee, on April 2, 1959, a son of Alois and Margaret (nee Rauen) Stencel. He was raised and received his education in Milwaukee, graduating from Milwaukee Technical High School in 1977. After completing high school, Dennis went to work for Peck Meat Packing in Milwaukee. He married Lenora Hafeman on July 31, 1982, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Milwaukee. They later divorced. In 1985, he built a cabin near Willard, and continued to work at Peck Meat Packing until moving to his cabin in 1994. In the late 1990s, Dennis went to work for Grassland Dairy Products, Greenwood. Much of his time was spent with his close friend and companion, Colleen McGovern, until her death in 2012. He was employed at Grassland Dairy Products at the time of his death. In his
spare time, Dennis enjoyed fishing, hunting, canoeing with his daughter, woodworking and tinkering.

He is survived by his children, Adam Stencel, Cataract, and Jessica Stencel, Cataract; his mother, Margaret Stencel, Milwaukee; one sister, Sharlene (Jim) Uselding, Fredonia; four brothers, Donald (Judy) Stencel, Milwaukee, Robert (Sue) Stencel, Denver, Colo., Richard (Darlene) Stencel, St. Francis, and Dave (Kim) Stencel, Fairchild; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father.
