Volk, Bethel (24 MAR 1916 - 23 JUN 2014)

Bethel Volk, 98, China Spring, TX, formerly of Willard, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014, at her residence. Funeral services were held on Friday, June 27, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. Rev. Steve Brice officiated. Burial followed in the parish cemetery.

Bethel Leach was born on March 24, 1916, in Greenwood, the daughter of Ira and Etna (nee Paulley) Leach. She was raised in Greenwood and received her education in the Greenwood Public Schools. After completing her education, Bethel worked as a waitress until her marriage to Rudolph "Rudy" Volk on January 4, 1936, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. They moved to Willard and farmed until their retirement. Her husband, Rudy, died on April 29, 1990. Bethel moved into Greenwood and resided there until moving to Texas to live with her daughter, Shirley, in 2009. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Clark County Homemakers. She had many interests, but especially enjoyed playing cards, playing bingo and bowling, in her younger years.

She is survived by one daughter, Shirley (Roy) Pipkorn, China Spring, TX; two sons, Ronald Volk, Pittsville and Charles (Rosie) Volk, Yellville, AR; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudy; one daughter, Judith Volk, in infancy; one granddaughter, Connie Volk; two brothers, Almond Leach and John Leach; and three sisters, Juaneita Roder, Coralie Hoffman and Lucy Gosse.
