LaPine, Lawrence "Larry" P. (20 MAR 1942 - 22 JUL 2014)

Lawrence "Larry" P. LaPine, age 72, of Abbotsford, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at his home with his family by his side.

Larry was born on March 20, 1942, the son of Clifford and Stella (Bialk) LaPine in Milwaukee. He attended South Division High School in Milwaukee. Larry enlisted in the Marines and was stationed in Southeast Asia.

In 1964, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Gradian. They were later divorced. On September 25, 1976, Larry was united in marriage to Karen Poehnelt in Milwaukee. They moved to Abbotsford in 1988.

Larry worked at a variety of companies in Milwaukee. After he moved to Abbotsford, he worked at Hutman Heating and retired from Weathershield Windows and Doors in 2006.

Larry was an active Lions member in Abbotsford. He was intelligent, charismatic and well-read. Larry enjoyed cooking, baking, woodworking, playing dominos, cribbage, Rumikub and jigsaw puzzles. He also liked to travel to visit family and friends. Larry was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother and brother-in-law, and his family was most important.

Larry is survived by his wife, Karen of Abbotsford; three sons, Daniel (Violet) of Rantoul, Ill., Jeffrey of Slinger and Christopher (Emily) of Elk Mound; five grandchildren, Malissa, Tiffany, Susan and Jacob LaPine and Jacob West. He is further survived by his sister, Charlotte Vanderberg of Rothbury, Mich.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his dog, Sparky.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Arthur.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford on Saturday, July 26, 2014. Father Dan Hackel will preside. Family and friends are welcome from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, July 25, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford with a Rosary Service at 3:45 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will be held in the Abbotsford Public Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Wisconsin Lions Foundation.
