Wilcox, Mr./Mrs. Bert (54th – 24 DEC 1940)

Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wilcox of this city (Greenwood, Clark Co., Wis.) celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wilcox, at Avoca, on Sunday Dec. 24, 1939.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox made the trip to Avoca with another son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Waite Wilcox of Marshfield.

Mr. Wilcox was born in McHenry County, Ill., March 4, 1867 and Mrs. Was born also in McHenry County on Oct. 28, 1866, and were married on Dec. 24, 1885 at Woodstock, Ill.

They came to Greenwood in 1917, where they have since resided. They came here from the town of Hendren. They came from Woodstock, Ill. To Clark County in 1911 and spent the next six years farming near Tioga. Mr. Wilcox was assessor of the town of Hendren at one time.

They have eight children: Maude, Mrs. Emil Siemer, Elgin, Ill.; Clarence of Avoca, Waite of Marshfield; James of Little Valeey, N.Y., Pearl, Mrs. Forest Chadwick, Randolph, N.Y.,; Clark of Basco; Helen, Mrs. Lloyd Christie, Glen Flora; Homer of Cattaraugus, N.Y.. They have 31 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and all their children were present at this celebration.
