Wells, Elsie A. (7August 1897 - 2 January 1973)

Mrs. Adelbert Wells, 75, died January 2 at her home of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services were held January 5, from Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Arthur Hellert officiating. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

The former Elsie A. Dux, daughter of William and Anna (Ronart) Dux, was born August 7, 189, in Neillsville. She attended St. John’s Lutheran School and was a graduate of Neillsville High School. She was married September 20, 1917, in Neillsville to Adelbert Wells. They farmed three miles northeast of Greenwood until they retired and moved into the city in 1962. Mr. Wells died January 27, 1964.

Mrs. Wells was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Norbert (Adella) Friske of Greenwood and Mrs. Norman (Marguarite) Friske of Whitehall; two sons, Donald Wells of Greenwood and Burton R. Wells of Marshfield; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, William C. Dux and Albert Dux, both of Neillsville; and a sister, Mrs. Martha Brown of Sacramento, Calif.

Pallbearers were Lawrence Cox, Godfrey Dyre, Clarence Verhulst, Ernest Elmer, Robert Carl and Edward Rossow. Gary Schultz sang, “I Never Walk Along” and “In the Garden” accompanied by Miss Patrice Pakiz.

C.; Mr. an Mrs. Virgil Montgomery of Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Lucille Koch of La Crosse; Mr and Mrs. Herschel Edwards of Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Dux, William Dux, O.K. Riplinger, Mr and Mrs. Otto Dux, the Rev. and Mrs. Gary Clark, Mrs. Evelyn Dimeo, Mrs. Meta Lang and Mrs. Dorothy Dux of Neillsville; Mrs. Elmer Helstes and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kobiske of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. William Horn, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Rossow, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olsen, Mr. and Mrs. James Wangen, Mr. and Mrs. Verland Dux and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Verhulst of Loyal and Mr and Mrs. Duane Anding of Granton.
