Schreiber, Rev. Lawrence E. (13 May 1915 - 6 April 1973)

Funeral services for the Rev. Lawrence E. Schreiber, 57, of Westfield, a former pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, Granton, and Christ Lutheran Church, Chili, were held Tuesday afternoon from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Westfield. The Rev. Karl Barth of Milwaukee officiated and burial was made in Westfield East Cemetery. The Steinhaus Funeral Home, Westfield, was in charge of arrangements. Rev. Schreiber died April 6, at St. Michael’s Hospital, Stevens Point, following a brief illness.

The son of August and Emma (Jackish) Schreiber, he was born May 13, 1915, in Oshkosh. He studied at Concordia College in Milwaukee and graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Mo., in 1938. Rev. Schreiber was ordained to the ministry January 1, 1941, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Oshkosh and served the following g Lutheran churches during his lifetime: Howard Avenue, Milwaukee; Trinity, West Allis; St. John’s, Corning, Mo.; Zion, Hiawatha, Ka.; Trinity, Glidden, Cable and Phipps; Zion, Granton; Christ, Chili; Immanuel, Westfield. He served the Granton and Chili churches from 1958 until 1963, when he accepted a call from the Westfield church.

His marriage to the former Bertha Rolff took place April 20, 1941, in Baldwin, N. Y. Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons, Peter of Milwaukee and john of Springfield, Il.; three daughters, Mrs. Laddie (Margaret) Trimble of Schaumberg, Il., Helen of Athens and Mary of Stevens Point; one brothers, Carl Schreiber of Oshkosh; two sisters, Mrs. Reuben Roebke of Oshkosh and Mrs. William Henning of Stevens Point; and three grandchildren.
