Lube, Charles J. (1882 - 1 May 1973)

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, May 4, from the Georgas Funeral Home for Charles J. Lube, 92, of Rt. 2, Granton, who died May 1, in Neillsville. Jerome Berger of the Jehovah’s Witnesses officiated and burial was made in the Green Grove Cemetery at Colby.

Charles Lube was born in 1882, in Wisconsin and attended Colby schools. He farmed, worked in Chicago, Ill., as a fireman, moved to Canada and farmed there before returning to Clark County. He also served in the Philippines during McKinley’s time. His marriage to Lela Schuelke took place in 1943 at Marshfield.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children, George Lube of Calgary, Alberta, Arnold Lube of British Columbia and Mrs. Ray (Lorraine) Franzen of Ohio. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Louie (Ida) Gosse of Colby and a brother, Herman Lube, of Sidney, British Columbia.

Pallbearers were: Oliver Williams, Ernest Bird, Wilmer Lueck, Elmer Kapfer, Roland Sharratt and Melvin Gosse.

Those from out of town who attended the services were Mrs. Charles Lube, Mrs. George Carstensen, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams and Elmer Kapfer of Granton, Roland Sharratt of Chili, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Lueck, Lucille and Walter Hohl, and Lynette Lydiksen of Greenwood, Mr and Mrs. Alvin Krueger and daughter, Mrs. Ida Gosse, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Gosse and Mr. and Mrs. Riley Neuman of Colby.
