Willard (5 July 1973)

Members of the P.C.C.W. held their monthly meeting Monday at the parish center in Willard. Preceding the meeting the members attended mass, the Rev. Michael Mertens officiated. From 18 to 20 members were present. Presiding at the meeting was Mrs. Jean Govek.

A discussion was held on the barbecue, which they will prepare for July 8.

Baby cards were sent to Mr. Jerome Stremikis, Jr., and Mrs. George Grabara.

A letter was read by Mrs. Govek on the National affairs commission.

A wedding dinner also as planned and will be served in the month of July.

More members were also received. The meeting adjourned with a prayer. A lunch was served by St. Martha’s group.

Miss Deborah Craig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Craig, represented Greenwood FFA at the Wisconsin Junior Dairyman’s State Convention at Jefferson last week. Deborah received the first place trophy on a four-year-old dry cow. She also was a delegate from the Greenwood FFA chapter to Green Lake earlier this month.

John Govek of Medford spent two weeks with the national Guard at Camp McCoy.

Sgt. and Mrs. Jerry Willis and children of Minot A.F.B., N.D., spent some time at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Craig and family. Chris and Ann stayed for a longer visit with their grandparents.

Sharon and Carol Plautz of Greenwood spent last week with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Plautz.

Bob Petkovsek, Roger Gregorich, Robert Hribar and William Kurasz are back from a fishing trip to Scotch Lake, Canada. Also on the trip were Allen Debevec and Jack Trunkel.

Sister Antonia of Wabasha, Mn., and Mr. and Mrs. John Kuznacic and children and Donna Marie Gosar of Oshkosh we here to attend the first communion services of Margaret Gosar.

Mr. and Mrs. John Stremikis of Madison visited Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Stremikis, Sr., and family last week.

Mrs. Eva Smrecek, Mr. and Mrs. John Smrecek, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Huettl and children of Marshfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Smrecek, spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs. Ralph Smrecek, honoring Ralph Smrecek, Jr., who made his first communion, last Sunday.

Mrs. William Bayuk has returned from Tulsa, Okla., where she attended a WAC reunion.

Mrs. Dora Fortuna of Marshfield visited relatives and friends in our area last Sunday.

Mr and Mrs. John Bailen and children of Milwaukee were guests last weekend of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Artac and family.

Mrs. Bob Stoic and Donna Susan of Detroit, Mich., spent last week with Mrs. Lucille Lunka and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Suda and family.

Mrs. John Fox entertained 20 ladies last Monday afternoon in honor of her mother, Mrs. Louise Beck of Tucson, Ariz., who is visiting here.

Mr. and Mrs. James Matousek of Lemont, Il., are visiting relatives in the Willard and Gorman areas.
